Slow Rock

In this chapter I would like to demonstrate several cajón rhythms for slow rock. In its simplest form the rhythms are organized in one-measure patterns subdivided in eighth notes (half time). The bass drum accents are played as bass tones, the snare drum accents as tones, and all unaccented eighth-notes as tips. The tips create a consistent line similar to an eighth-note pattern played on the hi-hat.

Slow Rock Double-time

A livelier version of a slow rock groove can be accomplished by doubling the subdivisions (Double time) without changing the timing of the accent pattern.

This groove sounds as heavy as the first one, but as if you had played it with a hi-hat pattern in 16th notes.
